Fellowship & Community

What It Is

Fellowship is about doing life together with other believers. God never intended for us to follow Jesus alone — we grow best when we walk side by side with others who love Him too.

Through community, we encourage one another, pray for one another, challenge one another, and remind each other of God’s truth. It’s where we learn to love like Jesus, practice forgiveness, and live out our faith in real, practical ways.

The Bible calls the Church a body (1 Corinthians 12:12) — many parts, but one family. When we come together, we are stronger, healthier, and more effective for God’s kingdom.

Why It Matters

  • It helps us grow. We learn, mature, and are strengthened in our faith when we walk with others.

  • It provides encouragement. Life is hard — we all need people to pray for us, support us, and speak life into us.

  • It offers accountability. Community keeps us on track and helps us live out what we believe.

  • It shows God’s love to the world. Jesus said the world would know we are His disciples by the way we love one another (John 13:35).

How to Practice Fellowship & Community

Here are simple ways to start building biblical community:

Join a Small Group

  • Be part of a group where you can share life, study God’s Word, and pray with others.

  • Community isn’t built overnight — show up consistently and be open.

Share Meals and Life

  • Invite someone from church to dinner or coffee.

  • Spend time with believers outside of Sunday services — relationships grow in everyday moments.

Pray for and With Others

  • Ask people how you can pray for them — and then actually do it.

  • Share your own prayer needs too. Vulnerability builds trust and connection.

Encourage and Support One Another

  • Speak life into your friends. Send a text, write a note, or check in when they’re struggling.

  • Celebrate their victories, walk with them through challenges, and point them back to Jesus.

Tips for Staying Consistent

  • Don’t wait for perfect friendships — take the first step.

  • Be real and open — authenticity builds true connection.

  • Show up even when you don’t feel like it — consistency builds trust and depth over time.

Scriptures to Hold Onto

  • “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together… but encouraging one another.” – Hebrews 10:24–25

  • “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17

  • “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” – Acts 2:42

Start Here:

  • Join a small group or Bible study this month.

  • Invite someone from church over for coffee or a meal this week.

  • Reach out to one person and ask how you can pray for them — then follow up.

Fellowship is where faith becomes family. God designed us to grow together — encouraging, sharpening, and strengthening one another as we follow Jesus side by side.
