Bible Study & Meditation
What It Is
The Bible isnβt just a book β itβs Godβs Word to us. Through Scripture, God reveals His character, shows us His plan, and teaches us how to live. Studying the Bible helps us understand who He is, what Heβs done, and how we can follow Him.
Meditation simply means thinking deeply about Godβs Word β letting it sink into your heart and guide your decisions. Itβs not about emptying your mind, but filling it with truth so it transforms the way you think and live (Romans 12:2).
Why It Matters
It helps us know God. The Bible shows us His heart, His promises, and His ways.
It guides our decisions. Godβs Word lights our path when we donβt know where to go (Psalm 119:105).
It equips us. Scripture strengthens our faith and prepares us to handle lifeβs challenges (2 Timothy 3:16β17).
It changes us from the inside out. As we meditate on Godβs Word, we start to think, speak, and act more like Jesus.
How to Practice Bible Study & Meditation
Here are simple ways to get started:
Read Daily
Set aside a few minutes each day to read the Bible. Start with one chapter from the Gospels (like John or Mark) or Psalms.
Donβt rush. Focus on understanding and hearing from God, not just checking off a box.
Reflect and Journal
After reading, write down what stood out to you. Ask:
What does this teach me about God?
What does this teach me about myself?
How can I apply this today?
Even writing one sentence helps you remember and apply what you read.
Meditate on One Verse
Choose one verse from your reading and think about it throughout the day.
Repeat it, pray it, or write it somewhere youβll see it often (like on your phone lock screen or bathroom mirror).
For example: βThe Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.β (Psalm 23:1) β remind yourself of this truth in moments of worry.
Let It Shape Your Day
Ask God to help you live out what you read.
Look for opportunities to apply Scripture in real life β in conversations, decisions, or how you treat others.
Tips for Staying Consistent
Use a reading plan or Bible app to guide you.
Try reading with a friend or small group to discuss what youβre learning.
If you miss a day, donβt quit β just start again tomorrow.
Scriptures to Hold Onto
βYour word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.β β Psalm 119:105
βThis Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and nightβ¦β β Joshua 1:8
βAll Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.β β 2 Timothy 3:16
Start Here:
Pick one verse and write it somewhere youβll see it β think about it all day.
Write one sentence in a journal about what God showed you in His Word.
The goal isnβt just to know the Bible β itβs to let Godβs Word take root in your heart so it shapes your life.
