Bible Study & Meditation
What It Is
The Bible isn’t just a book — it’s God’s Word to us. Through Scripture, God reveals His character, shows us His plan, and teaches us how to live. Studying the Bible helps us understand who He is, what He’s done, and how we can follow Him.
Meditation simply means thinking deeply about God’s Word — letting it sink into your heart and guide your decisions. It’s not about emptying your mind, but filling it with truth so it transforms the way you think and live (Romans 12:2).
Why It Matters
It helps us know God. The Bible shows us His heart, His promises, and His ways.
It guides our decisions. God’s Word lights our path when we don’t know where to go (Psalm 119:105).
It equips us. Scripture strengthens our faith and prepares us to handle life’s challenges (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
It changes us from the inside out. As we meditate on God’s Word, we start to think, speak, and act more like Jesus.
How to Practice Bible Study & Meditation
Here are simple ways to get started:
Read Daily
Set aside a few minutes each day to read the Bible. Start with one chapter from the Gospels (like John or Mark) or Psalms.
Don’t rush. Focus on understanding and hearing from God, not just checking off a box.
Reflect and Journal
After reading, write down what stood out to you. Ask:
What does this teach me about God?
What does this teach me about myself?
How can I apply this today?
Even writing one sentence helps you remember and apply what you read.
Meditate on One Verse
Choose one verse from your reading and think about it throughout the day.
Repeat it, pray it, or write it somewhere you’ll see it often (like on your phone lock screen or bathroom mirror).
For example: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1) — remind yourself of this truth in moments of worry.
Let It Shape Your Day
Ask God to help you live out what you read.
Look for opportunities to apply Scripture in real life — in conversations, decisions, or how you treat others.
Tips for Staying Consistent
Use a reading plan or Bible app to guide you.
Try reading with a friend or small group to discuss what you’re learning.
If you miss a day, don’t quit — just start again tomorrow.
