Day Four: Perfectly Righteous

Read

Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

β€” Rom. 5:1-5 NLT

Devotional

Being perfectly saved through Jesus, God has given us righteousness, or right standing with him, free from blemish. This provides us with the covenant right to come boldly into his presence. It is a place of confidence and joy, where we can freely run to God without fear of rejection. What Jesus did for us brought us into a place of undeserved privilege. We are now called children of God!

And now that we have been made perfectly right in God's sight, we also have peace with God. God is on our side. He favors us! When he looks at us, he sees his child whom he wants to bless with abundance. There is a beautiful confidence in that! If God is for us, who can stand against us?

So, we don't have to fear when we run into troubles, trials, or temptations. God fights our battles for us! Now that doesn't mean we stand around twiddling our thumbs. No, the passage above tells us to rejoice! We can face them head-on, proactively worshipping and thanking the Lord in advance, knowing God is with us and on our side. Because of God's great love for us, we hope we will not fail.

Prayer

Father, I am so grateful you have made me right in your sight. This undeserved privilege that you have given to me! Oh Lord, I am so blessed to be called your child! I thank you that I can come boldly into your presence without fear of rejection. Lord, today I enter your courts with thanksgiving and praise, knowing that you are fighting my battles for me. You are making way for me that I could not make for myself. And I give you all the glory and honor for the hope you have given me through Jesus, my hope that does not disappoint. I am forever grateful, in Jesus' name. Amen!
