Project Moses

Project Moses is Abundant Life Church’s partnership with IMPACT Relief to free families trapped in brick kiln slavery in Pakistan. Families living in poverty often fall into debt with no other way out, and to repay it they are forced to labor in the kilns. The interest keeps growing, and any hardship forces them to borrow more from the kiln owners, so the debt never ends. Children are born into it too. It is a form of slavery that preys on the poor.

IMPACT Relief carries the relationships on the ground in Pakistan and arranges each family’s release. To date, we have paid to release four families, and you can watch the documentary of their rescue right here on this page.

Every rescue does more than pay off the debt. It also provides fresh clothing, two to three months of housing, essential household items like pots and pans, and a micro-investment to help the family launch a small business and sustain themselves. It is not a loan, and nothing has to be repaid. The average cost to rescue a family runs between twenty-five hundred and thirty-five hundred dollars, varying with the size of the family and the amount of debt they carry.

One hundred percent of every dollar given goes straight to the families. Kamran James, who leads IMPACT Relief, takes nothing for his own costs. He is a businessman and engineer who is independently sustained, so no gift is spent on overhead.

You can give to Project Moses through the Abundant Life giving portal, and we make sure every dollar goes directly to rescuing families.
