Dear Abundant Life Family,

I’m so excited to journey with you through this six-week devotional, Love Thy Neighbor. As we seek the Lord together, we’ll grow in understanding of what it truly means to live with compassion and to serve others as citizens of His Kingdom. This is more than a devotional—it’s a calling to live intentionally and love like Jesus in our everyday lives.

Our churchwide summer series, Heart for the Harvest, is rooted in the words of Jesus from Matthew 9:36–38:

“When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them… Then He said to His disciples,

‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.’”

Jesus looked at the people around Him and saw more than their struggles—He saw their spiritual readiness. This devotional will help you lift your eyes, see people the way He does, and step into your role in the harvest.

We chose the title Love Thy Neighbor because it’s not just about feeling love—it’s about showing it. Through my own walk with Christ, I’ve come to realize that as I grow in relationship with God, I better understand His love for me—and I’m empowered to love others in return, even when it’s not easy. Relationships matter deeply to God. They are the heartbeat of His Kingdom.

That’s why this journey culminates in Serve Week (August 9–16)—a powerful, churchwide opportunity to put our love into action. We’ll use our gifts, tell our stories, serve with joy, and be the hands and feet of Jesus in our neighborhoods, all week long. This is your invitation to be part of something bigger, and I don’t want you to miss it. To register, visit abundantlife.church and sign up for Serve Week today.

Each weekly entry in this six-week devotional includes scripture, a reflection, a Serve Week challenge, a prayer, and questions to help you go deeper. I encourage you to journal, pray, and even share your stories with us along the way by emailing mystory@abundantlife.church. We’d love to celebrate what God is doing in and through you!

I’m praying that as we walk this journey together, God would transform our hearts and renew our vision. That we wouldn’t just complete a devotional, but that we’d become people marked by the love of Jesus—people who truly love our neighbor by taking the opportunity to walk into the fields and be an active part of God’s harvest.

Let’s do this together,

Miles Ray
